このアルバムは、宮崎県在住のピアニスト横山起朗の５作目のCDである。ピアノは一音鳴らすとその音は減衰しやがて消滅する。その最も美しい去りきってしまう前の残響を丁寧に掬い上げることにより静けさの中、どこか淡い光を感じる作品に仕上がった。
最小限のハーモニーで作られた(M-1) sae はアルバムのテーマであり(M-5) itsuka では音の消えゆく瞬間まで耳を傾けさせる。そして(M-12) minori では新しい季節の喜びを告げるように音が跳ねる。本作の quiet new という二つの形容詞を並べただけのシンプルなタイトルには、聴き手の自由な解釈で美しい空気を浴びるように聴いて欲しいという願いが込められている。
尚、本作は料理家の「月の石」こと樋口加代子氏の主催する新たな季節の到来を祝い静かな時間を過ごす「予祝」という食事会のBGMとして制作されたものを音源化したものであり、CDを包む折りたたんだ紙をほどくと裏面に横山の撮影した写真と言葉が添えられている。 -
This album is the fifth CD by Tatsuro Yokoyama, a pianist living in Miyazaki Prefecture. When he plays one note of piano, the sound attenuates and eventually disappears. By carefully capturing the most beautiful reverberations before they are gone, we have created a work that feels a faint light in the midst of silence.
(M-1) sae, made with minimal harmonies, is the theme of the album, and (M-5) itsuka makes you listen until the moment the sound fades away. And (M-12) minori, the sound bounces as if announcing the joy of a new season. The title of this work, quiet new, is a simple combination of two adjectives, and contains the hope that the listener can freely interpret it and listen to it as if basking in the beautiful atmosphere.
This work is a sound source of the music created as the background music for a dinner party called “Yosyuku” where chef Kayoko Higuchi, also known as ‘’Tsuki no ishi” spends a quiet time celebrating the arrival of the new season. When you unwrap the folded paper wrapping the CD, you'll find a photo and words by Yokoyama on the back.
